JinkoSolar's first Blue Whale 5 MWh large-scale storage system rolls off production line, officially opening a new chapter in smart storage
2024.04.25

On 25 April, JinkoSolar's first 5 MWh large-scale storage system, the Blue Whale SunTera G2, officially rolled off the production line at the Haining Jianshan base. This milestone marks another significant progress for the company in the energy storage sector through technological innovation and iterative upgrades, and will promote higher-quality development of the energy storage industry with better application solutions. At the ceremony, JinkoSolar CEO Chen Kangping and other leaders attended and jointly witnessed the highlight moment.

JinkoSolar's new-generation 5 MWh large-scale storage system, the Blue Whale SunTera G2, features system-level cycle life of 8,000 cycles and supports a service life of 20 years. Notably, as the industry's currently mass-producible ultra-quiet energy storage system, its noise level is controlled within 75 dB, greatly enhancing the flexibility of energy storage applications.

In addition to the above features, the Jinko Blue Whale SunTera G2 system's core competitive advantages lie in its “three highs, two lows and one long” performance. Through multi-level, all-round optimised design, the system achieves the product characteristics of “high energy density, high energy efficiency, high safety, low O&M costs, low auxiliary power consumption, and long life”. Compared with the previous generation, the SunTera G2 supports A/B cabinet design for both 2-hour and 4-hour application scenarios. With single-side opening, it supports back-to-back and side-by-side placement, increasing area utilisation by more than 37%, improving system RTE by 2% to over 94% overall, reducing SOC estimation error to below 3% across the full life cycle, and reducing auxiliary power consumption by 20% overall, which improves overall system reliability and reduces operation and maintenance (O&M) costs. Its three-level comprehensive protection – from system structure, electrical to fire safety – combined with five-dimensional safety design from cell to system level, effectively ensures ultimate safety and reliability of the system.

The Jinko Blue Whale SunTera G2 relies on JinkoSolar's intelligent digital platform, delivering smart O&M and efficient control through equipment monitoring, data storage, remote support, early warning, and 24/7 system monitoring and maintenance.

The rapid launch of the Jinko Blue Whale SunTera G2 product is attributed to JinkoSolar's strong R&D and manufacturing capabilities. The company boasts advanced, highly automated production lines and a rigorous quality management system, ensuring superior performance and high reliability of the product.

Chen Kangping, CEO of JinkoSolar, said: “JinkoSolar has always been committed to enriching the energy storage industry ecosystem and paying close attention to market and customer needs. The official rollout of the new-generation 5 MWh large-scale storage system is an effective achievement of integrating years of development experience with advanced technological innovation to address pain points in energy storage applications. Its mass production will effectively enhance the company's core competitiveness and help capture more market share. In the future, the company will continue to drive technological upgrades, actively optimise energy storage terminal applications through market feedback, and strive to provide the industry with the optimal solution for new energy solutions.”
